Our work

Brighter Futures

Our support in this area looks to provide impactful support to young people who have experienced disadvantage. Mostly this is delivered through an education lens and includes specific support for those with experience of the care system.

Spotlight: IntoUniversity

Beyond financial support, BLFCT has demonstrated a genuine interest in the long-term outcomes of our work and the communities we serve. Their partnership has allowed us to plan confidently for the future, innovate within our programmes, and strengthen our service to those who need it most. We are incredibly proud to work alongside a funder that shares our belief in the power of education to transform lives.
Rachel Carr, CEO IntoUniversity

IntoUniversity is a national education charity, providing a dedicated space for learning, exploration, and achievement. Our centres, located within the heart of communities facing disadvantage, offer long-term, tailored, pastoral support, which inspires ambition and supports attainment. By breaking cycles of disadvantage, IntoUniversity plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of the young people we work with.

Currently, 29% of children in the UK are living in poverty; and in some of the highest-need neighbourhoods where we target our support, a shocking 40% of children grow up in poverty (DWP, 2022). Typically, where there is economic poverty, it is accompanied by social and educational disadvantage.

Our centres work with thousands of young people each year, equipping them with the tools and confidence to achieve their ambitions, often becoming the first in their families to progress to higher education or a professional career.
